霍皮人的卡奇纳仪式 The Hopi Katsina Rituals
霍皮人常常举行各种祭拜仪式，在自然与人类生活的各个层面之间保持一种平衡。每半年，超自然的神灵卡奇纳，会从其神圣的家园降临到仪式中，充当霍皮人和神灵之间的媒介，把霍皮人的祈祷带到天堂，再从天堂把雨水和丰收的祝福，以及如何生活才能使社区保持和谐与平衡的训诫带给霍皮人。
卡奇纳仪式有特定的时间间隔，有的会持续很多天。仪式中主要的活动是唱歌和跳舞，为了扮演成卡奇纳神灵，男人们头戴面具、身着特定的服饰，并涂绘各种油彩。
The Hopis often hold all kinds of worshiping activities, maintaining a balance between nature and all aspects of human life. Every half of a year, the supernatural god Katsina descends into the ritual from his holy realm, becoming the media between the Hopis and gods, taking prays of the Hopis to the heaven, bringing rains and blesses for harvest back to the Hopis.
Katsina rituals have regular intervals, and some could last for many days. The major activities in the ritual are singing and dancing, and playing the role of Katsina gods, males wear masks and particular costumes, painting all sorts of greasepaint.
