About Exhibition
“Collections of Uffizi Gallery: From 15th to 20th Centuries” co-held by Italy Uffizi Gallery and Hunan Provincial Museum will be open to the public from November 30, 2010 to February 27, 2011. This exhibition presents a fine assembly of 82 precious paintings in different genres of landscape, still life and portrait from Uffizi Gallery, including The Adoration of the Magi by Filipepi, Leda and the Swan by Tintorett, Venus with Cupid, Dog and Partridge by Titian, etc.
As another important event in “World Art Series” held by Hunan Provincial Museum after “From the Academic to Impressionism--Master Pieces of the 19th Century European Paintings at the Pérez Simon Collection”, this exhibition aims at spreading knowledge and enhancing the understanding of our Chinese people towards Italian art and European art, from which the audience can feast their eyes upon the exquisite paintings created by artists from different periods.
The Uffizi gallery in Florence, Italy, was built in 1581, under the request of Granduca Francisco de’ Medici, son of Cosimo I and was open to the public in 1743. Now, it has been ranked as one of the most important institutions for western art.
