Press Conference on Upcoming Exhibition of “Collections from Uffizi Gallery” Held in Hunan Provincial Museum
Hunan Provincial Museum will hold an exhibition titled “From the Collections of Uffizi Gallery-- The Genres of Painting-Landscape, Still Life & Portrait Paintings” from November 30, 2010 to February 27, 2011 at its third floor of new Exhibition Building, organizers announced at the press conference on the morning of November 21, attracting 13 national and local media such as Xinhua news agency, Hunan TV, Hunan Urban Channel, Hunan Educational Channel, Sanxiang City Express, etc.
Liu Chun, deputy director of Hunan Provincial Museum, introduced the objectives and great value of this exhibition to media. As another important event in “World Art Series” held by Hunan Provincial Museum after “From the Academic to Impressionism--Master Pieces of the 19th Century European Paintings at the Pérez Simon Collection”, this exhibition aims at spreading knowledge and enhancing the understanding of our Chinese people towards Italian art and European art, from which the audience can feast their eyes upon the exquisite paintings created by artists from different periods.
Zhang Feng, director of Exhibition Project, briefed the various preparatory work and themed activities to be held during the exhibition. It is reported that over 130 volunteers have been recruited from all walks of life and series activities such as academic lectures in Colleges and Universities are now under way.
This exhibition presents a fine assembly of 82 precious paintings in different genres of landscape, still life and portrait from Uffizi Gallery, including The Adoration of the Magi by Filipepi, Leda and the Swan by Tintorett, Venus with Cupid, Dog and Partridge by Titian, etc.
