On the morning of November 3, a delegation of senior managers of museums in UK visited our museum. Liu Xiaobao, the deputy director of our museum, expressed heartfelt welcome to their coming on behalf of Hunan Provincial Museum.

The delegation, first of all, visited the permanent exhibition of Mawangdui Han Tombs. They carefully listened to the docent’s interpretation and showed great interest in exhibits, marveling at the rich collection in our museum and the brilliant culture of Hunan.

After the two-hour tour, Mr. Liu gave a PowerPoint Presentation titled “Introduction of Educational Activities of Hunan Provincial Museum” to the delegation in Multifunctional Lecture Hall and afterwards answered their questions about free-admission policy, volunteer recruiting and training, educational activities, etc. The delegation was highly complimentary about the achievements made by our museum in the aspects of public service and educational activities, acclaiming our museum as “first-class museum”.

Hedley Swain, director of Programme Delivery of Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, expressed the hope of enhancing the cooperation and exchanges between their museums and Hunan Provincial Museum. He believed that through joint efforts, the identity rate of Hunan Provincial museum will soar from 40% in the province to 40% in the whole world in the near future.

The UK delegation’s trip to China, aiming at strengthening the bond and promoting the exchanges and cooperation in exhibitions, staff and professional knowledge between museums in China and in UK, is organized by “China-UK Connections through Culture” and supported by State Administration of Cultural Heritage. Changsha is their fifth stop.
