Chinese Delegation Led by Director Chen Jianming Attended 2011 Annual Conference of Committee for Regional Museums

From August 22 to 28, 2011, the 2011 Annual Conference of Committee for Regional Museums (ICR) was held in Vest-Agder County, Norway. Present at the conference were more than 50 experts and scholars in the fields of regional governments, universities, museums and other cultural institutions from all over the world, such as China, America, Britain, Germany, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, Greece, Czech, Slovakia, Israel, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Finland, Tanzania, etc.

Director Chen Jianming addressed the 2011 ICR Conference, Norway.

At the invitation of ICOM- ICR, Chen Jianming, vice-chairperson and secretary-general of ICOM-China, led the Chinese delegation to attend this conference. As the board member of ICR, Mr. Chen was present at ICR Board Meeting as well.

Experts and scholars in the museum field worldwide shared the theoretical and practical experiences on museum and, deeply and thoroughly, discussed the theme of “Changing Tastes: Local Gastronomy and Regional Museums”. The article, “On Chinese Gastronomy 2,100 Years Ago—A case study of Mawangdui Han Tombs in Changsha, China”, submitted by Hunan Provincial Museum was selected as one of the presentations at the conference.

During the conference, delegation also visited museums and relevant cultural heritage institutions in Kristiansand, Mandore Valley, Lindesnes/ Farsund, Listrac, Stavanger and Bergen.

After the conference, Director Chen Jianming, accompanied by Huang Lei, Head of Foreign Affairs & Exhibitions Office, Hunan Provincial Museum, also visited the related museums in Sweden by invitation and had some informal discussions on the cooperation and exchange programs.
