“Family-Activity-Day” on Happy Mid-Autumn Festival Held in our Museum
Mid-Autumn Festival is a Chinese traditional festivity which falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in lunar calendar every year. Customarily, people celebrate this joyous festival by eating mooncake (a pastry with mostly sweet fillings) and appreciating the full moon at night. On September 22, the day of Mid-Autumn Festival in solar calendar this year, “Family-Activity-Day” on the theme of Mid-Autumn Festival was successfully held in Hunan Provincial Museum.
The rite of “Moon Worshiping”
“Family-Activity-Day” began with a cheery Mid-Autumn ballad by Happy Sister; then the kids and their parents were organized to watch a video about the origin and custom of Middle-Autumn Festival. Under the guidance of Happy Sister, the lovely kids experienced the traditional rite of “Moon Worshiping”, which was followed by tasting yummy little mooncakes. Afterwards, they had a good time in “DIY Mooncake Packing Box” and “Poem-on-moon Filling” activities.
