The 9th day of September in the lunar calendar is “the Chinese Chong Yang Festival”. In this golden season, Chinese people often celebrate this festival by friends gathering, mountains climbing, chrysanthemums appreciating and showing respect and care to the aged people.

On October 16, with over 20 participating families, “Family-Activity-Day” on the theme of “Chong Yang: Respect the Aged” was successfully held in Hunan Provincial Museum.

Competition on DIY paper chrysanthemum

At 10AM, Sister Happy began the “Family-Activity-Day” by leading the kids to read Missing My Brothers on September 9, a household poem by Wangwei (an ancient Chinese poet) on Chong Yang Festival; an animated film was followed to impart knowledge about the origin and customs of Chong Yang Festivals to kids. Then, parents and kids tasted the cakes made for this special day and competed in “DIY Paper Chrysanthemum” in high spirits.

With the help of lovely kids, a “grandmother” is managing to cross “barriers”.

The following activity of “Helping Grandparents to Cross Barriers” witnessed the lively atmosphere in which the loving kids carefully guided the elder to cross “barriers” and reach the finish line. When the activity drew to an end, kids vied in expressing their respect and care for the aged by massaging their grandparents, bringing water or other deeds to reciprocate the great love they get from their parents and grandparents. Parents were deeply moved by this heartwarming scene.
